General Manager - Get in on the Ground Floor

Dynamic, experienced person sought as general manager for 12,500 sq. ft. specialty, cooperative grocery store. The candidate must start six months prior to the scheduled opening in the spring of 2009 in order to deliver a fully staffed and operational facility.

Job Description:

The GM will oversee approximately 45 employees. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to planning, finance, reporting, operations, and marketing.

Skills:

The General Manager should posess the following skills and abilities:

  • demonstrate strong leadership skills;
  • understand and respond to the needs of the membership and customer base;
  • College degree and Co-op experience preferred;

General Manager

The Silver City Food Cooperative in Silver City, New Mexico (with annual sales over $2 million) seeks a dynamic general manager to lead our team of 25 employees. Silver City, population 10,000, is next to the 3 million acre Gila National Forest and has small town charm and plenty of sunshine. Our co-op is a thriving 3000 sq. ft. store (with additional warehouse and office space), has 2100 members and serves a rural community within a 60 mile radius.

Job Description:

With our Policy Governance model, the GM is responsible for the management of all co-op operations including: budgeting and finances, personnel, customer service, member linkage, marketing and long-range planning.

Skills:

The General Manager should posess the following skills and abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills;
  • Several years of experience in natural foods retail;
  • Supervisory and marketing experience;
