NCBA and the Public Lands Council’s public policy internship gives college juniors, seniors and graduate students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work on behalf of America’s livestock producers in Washington, D.C. Interns work alongside the lobbying team, regulatory experts, communications team and political action committee to ensure legislative and regulatory actions taken inside the nation’s Beltway don’t cause harm to the livestock industry.
This isn’t just about checking a box to complete an internship. Public policy interns gain valuable skills to prepare them for a career after college, firsthand exposure to the public policy process, and an opportunity to live in our nation’s Capitol.
Internships are offered during summer, spring and fall semesters.
The dates below are subject to change. NCBA is willing to work with students who have minor scheduling conflicts.
Summer 2020 Semester
May 18 - August 7
Application closes December 6, 2019
“The NCBA and PLC Public Policy Internship is an opportunity to work for a strong group of well-respected agricultural lobbyists, and get first-hand experience lobbying on Capitol Hill. From trade to tax issues, to cattle health and the environment, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a broad set of issues affecting beef producers. Whether or not you currently hold ambitions in public policy, the opportunity for growth in this internship is tremendous and the value immeasurable.”
-Jacy Spencer, Spring 2018 Intern
“Moving to Washington, D.C., was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I couldn't be more thankful to NCBA and PLC for taking me in, treating me like one of the team, and truly having the desire to teach me about these amazing organizations. As I look back on my internship, I learned everything from metros to memorials and policy to politics. These organizations put the rancher at the forefront of every decision, and that is something I will always want to be a part of.”
-Allie Nelson, Fall 2017 Intern
The internship is offered during spring, summer and fall sessions. Interested students should email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
