Since 1983, Scott has been a partner with his two brothers in McGregor Farms Inc., a four-generation family farm. They have both a commercial cow-calf herd and a feedlot in N.E. Iowa. Row crops are a major segmnt of their busness including corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and permanent pasture used for haying and rotational grazing.  

Scott has been active in the beef industry for more than 30 years. He has been a board member for the Chickasaw County Cattlemen since 1990. From 2002 to 2008, he was the Committee Chair for the ICA Beef Product Committee while also serving as a Committee Member for Iowa Cattlemen's Association Membership. Scott began serving as a board member to the Iowa Beef Industry Council (IBIC) in 1998 and has since filled all roles of office for them. 

In 2008, he began working on beef promotion as the Elected Federation position for the Beef Promotion Operating Committee. During that time he also served the Federation onthe Joint Evaluation Committee. All while simultaneously serving as Vice Chair and then Chair of the beef Checkoff Foodservice Committee from 2008-2012. 

Scott spent one year serving as Co-Chair to the Value Committee and another two years as Co-Chair to the Consumer Trust Committee. From 2016-2019, he was an Advisory Member on the National BQA Advisory Board. Following his time there, he became a Committee Member of the Nutrition Health Committee in 2019. 

Scott has not limited himself to just the beef industry. In 2002, he joined the board of the Iowa State University N.E. Research Farm. He then became a IBIC representative from 2008-2019 for the ISU Animal Science External Advisory Board. He has also been a District Director and USMEF Delegate for the Iowa Soybean Association from 2011-2016 before becoming a board member of the Floyd County Insurance Mutual in 2017. 

He and his wife have been married for 33 years and have two grown children.
