Title: Drought and Snowpack Update

Although wet weather has returned over the past few weeks in the far west, including California, many areas are still in drier than normal conditions over parts of the west, Great Basin and parts of the Rockies.

The graphic below is the latest drought update as of late last week. Note dryness persists in the far west, California and the Desert Southwest. However, there has been some improvement in some areas of the far west over the last few weeks.

The water situation is much better in the Central and Northern Rockies where snowpack levels remain near or above normal. The graphic below shows snowpack levels as of March 23. The blue and green areas show near to above normal snowpack conditions while the yellow, orange and red show below normal snowpack levels.
