Title: Stormy April Weather

As much colder than normal temperatures and snow moved into the Rockies and Plains this weekend, it was a rough Easter weekend in the south and southeast with many reports of tornadoes, hail, and heavy rain.

The big contrast in temperatures between the cold in the west and warm in the east helped to trigger the severe weather. The graphic below shows all the reports of severe weather that occurred over the weekend. Unfortunately, we can expect more severe weather in the weeks ahead.

Another shot of winter weather will move into the Rockies and High Plains midweek. Beef producers in the central and western states should once again expect winter weather conditions with much below normal temperatures, snow, and very cold wind chills. As the cold air moves out the west and into the plains and southeast later in the week another round of severe weather will be possible late this week and into the weekend.

The weather will continue to be challenging for beef producers, especially those involved in calving operations. Colder and wet conditions are likely to be found in many areas of the country again this week.
