Title: Wildfires and Hurricanes

While wildfires continue to rage in OR, WA, CA, AZ and other parts of the far west, Hurricane Sally is menacing the Gulf Coast. After last week’s cold blast, wind and snow in the Rockies, September has certainly started off with a bang!

Regarding the wildfires, there is some good news this week. A Pacific trough and cool front will slowly settle into WA/OR and Northern CA this week. Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and some rain will move into those areas by the middle to the end of the week.  The graphic below shows the expected rainfall over the next week.

The rain, higher humidity and clouds should help with the wildfires in the Pacific Northwest this week. However, drought conditions persist in the west as you can see below. There has been some drought relief in the Rockies over the past week.
