Nancy Jackson

2024 NCBA Federation Division Vice Chair

Nancy Jackson, DVM, is a licensed veterinarian who, with her husband, Gary, owns and manages Southern Cross Farm in central Mississippi. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Jackson has been involved in the cattle industry for decades, owning her own animal ambulatory practice, working as a field veterinarian for the Mississippi Board of Animal Health, and serving as a volunteer leader with 4-H, the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association and the Mississippi Beef Council as well as the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation. The Jackson’s cow-calf operation also received the prestigious Environmental Stewardship Award for Region II in 2020.

From her beginnings on a beef operation in Florida, Jackson became deeply interested at an early age in improving the industry. This passion turned into a nearly 30-year career as a private veterinarian, where she drew upon her education and life experiences to help clients successfully improve their farming practices through genetic selection, parasite control, nutrition, reproduction, and disease management.

In her current practice, she works on animal disease traceability issues, the implementation of new technology for animal identification, and natural disaster response planning. Jackson enjoys advancing and safeguarding the cattle business operations in her home state against the threat of disease or disaster.

Throughout her career, Jackson has worked tirelessly to support families in the beef industry. From her dedication to the health and safety of cattle, to her passionate involvement on the local and national level, she is an admirable key player in advocating for beef and representing the best of what our industry has to offer.
